1. Mirik Lake:

The natural lake is 1.25 km long which has an 80 foot long arched bridge built over it. Bokar Monastery is also known as Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling Monastery. This is a prosperous Monastery which has more than 500 monks. The monks in this Monastery have all dedicated their lives to practice and study and carry on the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha.

The Honorable Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche founded the Bokar Monastery in the year 1984 as a small retreat center. He later began to accept monks for training on request from his disciples. Since then the small retreat center grew gradually to become the Bokar Monastery which is the present monastery with a monastic college and two retreat centers nearby.

Bokar Monastery and other facilities are now under the direction of Kyabje Bokar Donyo Rinpoche who is a close disciple of Bokar Rinpoche. The monastery came under his direction after the passing away of the Honorable Bokar Rinpoche in the year 2004.
